Subject:The Friday Five for March 17, 2017
Time:05:01 am
In honor of the day -

1. Have you ever been to Ireland?

2. According to Facts about Ireland, 73% of Americans are unable to locate Ireland on a map bereft of country names. Whether you are American or not, can you find it on a map?

3. Are you or do you know a natural redhead?

4. Will you be celebrating St Patrick's Day?

5. Do you even know who St. Patrick is and why we celebrate his day?

1. Have you ever been to Ireland?

Nope

2. According to Facts about Ireland, 73% of Americans are unable to locate Ireland on a map bereft of country names. Whether you are American or not, can you find it on a map?

Yep

3. Are you or do you know a natural redhead?

You know it! I know a hot one!

4. Will you be celebrating St Patrick's Day?

You know it! About to have Bailey's & coffee - let's get this day started! ☘

5. Do you even know who St. Patrick is and why we celebrate his day?

He is the patron saint of engineers and engineering school is apparently hard so we need a reason to party. 😜

1. Yes
2. Yes I can.
3. I know 1 or 2.
4. We had corned beef and cabbage
5. St. Patrick was the first Christian Missionary to leave the old roman empire and go into a new are (Ireland). *We* (that is Americans) celebrate St. Patrick's Day as a form of racial solidarity -- the Irish were the Islamic Refugees of their day ("No Irish" signs were common). Making a bid deal out of this Irish Saint was a way of continuing to resist. Everyone else saw what a good time we were having and as we'd married so many of your daughters by then, having green beer seemed harmless and an excuse to drink.

Your response to #5 is very interesting. I couldn't even imagine being in that situation.

I wish I could say that we've gotten better than that, but it would be a lie.

1. Have you ever been to Ireland?
Nope, sadly. I was supposed to be a bridesmaid for my dad's friend, but it was in Belfast and my name is so Catholic that I probably wouldn't make it off the ferry XD

2. According to Facts about Ireland, 73% of Americans are unable to locate Ireland on a map bereft of country names. Whether you are American or not, can you find it on a map?
Well, I'm Scottish, and I live in Scotland, so I think I know where Ireland is XD

3. Are you or do you know a natural redhead?
Again, I'M SCOTTISH. I'm not a natural redhead, but there are plenty of them here XD

4. Will you be celebrating St Patrick's Day?
Nope, sadly.

5. Do you even know who St. Patrick is and why we celebrate his day?
...if you celebrate this day and you DON'T know why, get out of the pub.
