This week's questions were suggested by lordameth.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself?

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to?

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently?

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go?

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see?

Copy and paste to your own journal, then reply to this post with a link to your answers.

As always, if you'd like to suggest questions for a future Friday Five, then do so here:

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself?
-I consider myself mostly Italian, mostly because it's what my family acts like most of the time (i.e. the food we eat and other stuff)

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to?
Not really

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently?
I wish I could speak French fluently or Spanish might be useful since I live near miami.

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go?
London

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see?
I'd like to see what the Holocaust was like, not because I agree with it at all, but I took a class about it last semester and I thought it was interesting.

The Holocaust was not interesting - it was horrifying. I can't imagine why you would want to live through a period of complete and total darkness. If anything, I would take that time machine to the times BEFORE the holocuast, to meet my family before they were persecuted - to see the happier, more simple times when they lived in small shetetls (villages).

Friends only journal.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself? I'm Irish, Scottish, Cherokee Indian, Polish, and German. I think I am probably the most Irish because I have reddish hair and a fair complexion. I also have a very Irish temper.

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to? I think I have a chic way of dressing (or rather, as chic as I can be on a budget) and carrying myself that is mainly associated with European women... from like... Italy or France. I think Italy though because I have a Sophia Loren/Marilyn Monroe body, and she was Italian and I love Italian food...

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently? French, Spanish, Italian, Latin... the list goes on.

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go? Italy or Paris. I want to be a model.

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see? Audrey Hepburn at the Academy Awards.

It's by Edgar Degas. I love his work. This icon is also from a painting of his -- it's just a close-up, since the real painting has more in it. He did a lot of work featuring dancers.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself? Spanish and Mexican. I can't really explain why other than because I grew up going to Mexico, Puerto Rico, and who knows where else, a lot so I really got a lot of that sort of influence.

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to? Russian. I'm not positive why, but I really love the language, and a lot of other stuff. The early years of Russia that I learned about in World History interested me, and it's something I'd be more interested in learning about and experiencing.

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently? Russian. I learned how to read and write it at one point in my life, but I forgot how so I want to pick it up again. It would be nice to be able to speak Spanish properly as well.

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go? I would go to New York because I love that city. It's beautiful, expensive as all hell, but I would love, love, love to live there.

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see? This is going to make me seem like some weirdo, but I would love to see World War II. Not just the Holocaust though. I mean all of it. Including the Rape of Nanking, what Truman went through when making the decision to drop the atomic bombs, et cetera. Everything in that period of time.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself? Seeing as I belong to only one ethnicity, I suppose that's the one I'd choose - Taiwanese.

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to? Eh...Not in particular. I guess I'd say American, because American culture is a random mix of everything...and I don't place myself in any category according to my race.

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently? After French, which I'm currently studying in high school, I think I'd like to know Spanish because it's useful. Or Latin.

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go? I'm really not sure. I haven't seen too much of the world. It would have to be somewhere that's not landlocked, and somewhere with trees. And a diverse, laid-back atmosphere.

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see? I think I'd want to see how the world was formed. That, or I'd like to watch/listen to a composer at work - Beethoven maybe.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself?

--Irish. 3/4 English, 1/4 Irish. Do ya blame me? Ha, I don't want to insult my English friends in the audience. Ireland has been through a lot more poverty and strife than England seems to me.

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to?

--Albainian. We have a friend of the family who is Albanian and she is the greatest cook ever. All parts of the Albanian culture, especially the food, I adore. She is Orthodox Catholic. She makes the greatest spinach pies ever. YUM!

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently?

--French. Just so I could go to France, speak to them, make them think I am a native and then confess I'm American. HA!

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go?

--Canada.

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see?

--The debates over the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself?

Ultimately I think I'm very American. The other culture is Chinese, but I can't really relate to it.

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to?

The Latin culture. It's always been subtle when I was growing up but now that I'm older I've grown to love this culture so much. The music (omfg the music), dance, language, food, and family traditions are amazing. I love the way Spanish flows. I love how the Latin people don't take shit from leaders. If they don't like them, they take it to the streets. Sometimes the warm colors make me feel like home. It's weird.

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently?

Italian or German.

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go?

Italy.

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see?

The Stars' concert. I want to see it again without disturbances.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself?
Chinese and Vietnamese. I speak both of those well. Anybody can call themselves American these days.
2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to?
I've always been interested in Polynesian cultures.
3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently?
I wish I knew Vietnamese fluently. I know it, but I wish I knew it better. I want to be able to teach my children proper Vietnamese.
4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go?
Egypt. You know how much history and anthropology that is STILL undiscovered over there?
5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see?
It'd be so wonderful if I could see the building of the Easter Island statues.

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself? Swedish

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to? Irish!

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently? again, Swedish. I can speak it somewhat, and sing in it, but I wish I were totally fluent in it.

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go? Ireland or Scotland. I'm so obsessed with everything Scottish/Irish, and I'd love to go there!

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see? the first meeting of the guys who were to form Monty Python. I'd love to see itbecause it pretty much changed my whole life even though it was way before I was even born. Without Python I'd be a totally different person (and that would be scary!).

1) Irish

2) Italian (3 words, Godfather - Eppie - Pasta)

3) So so so many, but I suppose I'll start with spanish because that's the farthest I've gotten with. I'd love to be fluent in Italian, French, German, and Irish. (Don't tell me "it's not called Irish, it's Gaelic, I'm Irish, I know what I'm talking about)

4) Ireland, it's the one place outside of where I've grown up that I feel home when I'm there.

5) I'd love to see the Berlin wall torn down... I wouldn't be able to handle watching other things I'd like to be able to witness like Hiroshima/Nagasaki and Kristallnacht and the burning of the Pequot village.
