Sorry for the lateness, folks; that whole Life thing got in the way.

Onward to the questions!:

Into 2012
1. Do you make New Year's resolutions? If so, what are yours this year?
2. What are you really looking forward to in 2012?
3. Did you have any life-changing experiences in 2011? What were they?
4. What do you plan on waking up to on the 1st?
5. Do you have any particular traditions for New Year's?

1. Do you make New Year's resolutions? If so, what are yours this year?
Sometimes, sometimes not. January 1st feels kind of random in the flow of my life for making big changes; it's usually more effective if I make changes at the beginning of the school year, the beginning of spring, or other times that actually feel like a fresh start. (January 1st may technically be the day the calendar changes, but it doesn't feel like a new season in life). Plus I often don't think of resolutions in time-- and that's the case this year. I've got a few hours to think of something, but I doubt it will happen, lol.

2. What are you really looking forward to in 2012?
Nothing that I can be sure will happen. I'd like to say I'm looking forward to being employed again, but can I count on it? I certainly don't know when it will happen, which makes it hard to look forward to. 2012 is probably the most blank-slate year I've ever stepped into. Aside from a couple friends' weddings I'm not even sure if I'll have the money/time off to attend and turning 25 in May, I really have no idea about anything that will happen in the next 12 months.

3. Did you have any life-changing experiences in 2011? What were they?
I moved back to the US from Japan, moved in with my boyfriend, and entered a period of unemployment. Those were all pretty big.

4. What do you plan on waking up to on the 1st?
A shower, a cup of tea, a little conversation with my family and then I'm catching a train to Chicago to meet up with some girlfriends for a few days.

5. Do you have any particular traditions for New Year's?
When I spend New Year's home with my immediate family, we always eat fondue and drink champagne-- and then my mom and sister usually go to bed early! My dad, brother, and I stay up and sometimes my mom and sister wake up to watch the Times Square ball drop and maybe make some noise out the windows if the neighbors are at home. Then the next morning we make a bunch of cracks about "I haven't eaten since last year!" or "I haven't bathed since last year!" which was more fun when we were kids but we still do now anyway, lol.

Some years, though, I'm out of town and then there's no specific traditions except some sort of observation of the New Year. Depending on where I am there might be fireworks, just a nice dinner and champagne with friends or my boyfriend, watching some NYE program on TV, etc.
